Dr. Sherman Silber
Dr. Sherman Silber is one of the world’s leading authorities in reproductive microsurgery and modern fertility treatment, serving as Director of the Silber Infertility Center of St. Louis. Renowned for breakthroughs in IVF, mini-IVF, ICSI, sperm retrieval, and ovary transplantation, he helped shape many of the techniques used globally today. His path into medicine was anything but direct—initially drawn to literature, he ultimately followed a blend of curiosity, serendipity, and family influence that led him into surgery, urology, and eventually infertility. Early research in microsurgery and kidney transplantation made him one of the youngest urology chiefs at UCSF and set the foundation for his later fertility innovations. A front-page feature in the New York Times for his pioneering vasectomy reversal work propelled him to worldwide recognition, solidifying his status as a giant in reproductive medicine.
